MTC Media – Malang. On Wednesday 24 July 2024 rock climbing athletes from Poliban (Banjarmasin State Polytechnic) made their remarkable achievement. An athlete named Muhammad Zaki Zaidan from the Civil and Earth Engineering department gave silver in the men’s lead rock climbing category. This added to the medal collection for Poliban.
Pre-Competition Journey
Prior to the competition, a selection was held. This selection aims to find the best athletes who can compete in Porseni XIV. During the three months of preparation before the competition, Zaki underwent a structured and intensive training programme. Every day, he focused on various important aspects of rock climbing, such as improving physical strength, climbing techniques, and mental strategies.
Achievement
Zaki achieved his target of a silver medal and felt satisfied with his performance. With careful preparation and high dedication, this result is the fruit of the hard work and effort he has put in so far. This achievement is not only a pride for him, but also for Poliban and the entire team that has supported him. Going forward, Zaki commits to improving his skills and giving his best performance at the next Porseni event. He plans to utilise the time between competitions to strengthen his weaknesses, perfect his techniques, and keep his physical condition in top shape.

He felt that the organizers prepared the rock climbing venue well and ensured it met all the necessary standards for a high-level competition. The climbing walls were in excellent condition, and the facilities provided were top-notch, allowing athletes to perform at their best and getting a remarkable achievement. Moreover, the atmosphere of the competition was incredibly supportive. The organizers ensured a seamless flow of events, and the presence of enthusiastic spectators and fellow competitors created an encouraging environment. This supportive atmosphere boosted Zaki’s confidence and motivation, contributing significantly to his successful performance.
