MTC MEDIA – Malang. The PORSENI XIV athletic sports competition at Gajayana Stadium in Malang witnessed a historic moment in the women’s 5,000 meter race. On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Fitria Yappi from Kupang State Polytechnic delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place. With chest number 157, Fitria finished the race in 23 minutes 45 seconds, outperforming her competitors.
Fitria admits that jogging is her hobby. She said that her hobby helped her a lot in preparing for the championship. “I practiced every day for four months, except Sunday which I used to rest,” she said. Despite feeling nervous before the match, Fitria managed to overcome her fear by staying calm and praying.
Fitria gave an inspiring message to athletes who will compete in the future. “Never be lazy in practice, and believe in the process, because everyone has their time. Don’t be jealous of other people’s achievements, and always pray” Fitria said.
Besides that, Wuri Utari Royani from Politeknik Kemenkes Surakarta took second place with a time of 24 minutes 4 seconds. While Alfita Intan Maharani from Politeknik Negeri Pontianak came in third with a time of 25 minutes.
The success of Fitria and the other athletes at PORSENI XIV demonstrates the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving success. The stadium, full of cheering spectators, energized the athletes, creating an atmosphere full of energy and pride.
