MTCMEDIA & PORSENI – MALANG, Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The Pencak Silat team from Padang State Polytechnic (PNP) showcased a dominant performance in the PORSENI XIV 2024 event, advancing to the semifinals with an almost perfect record, suffering only one defeat throughout the competition. Coach Effendi Rasyid explained that his team consists of 12 fighters, with 2 in the men’s and women’s single art categories, and 10 in the match categories, including 4 female fighters and 6 male fighters.
Effendi Rasyid also added that the Pencak Silat sport at Padang State Polytechnic has been running since 2008, starting with their first participation in Aceh. “Initially, our target was just to participate. However, since then, we have continuously prepared athletes from the beginning by accepting new students through the achievement track. We focus on individual athletes and always strive to be champions, and thank God, we have always been the overall champions in Pencak Silat,” said Effendi(*).
Effendi added that he and the team select outstanding athletes and involve them in various events after selection. Their focus is on achieving the best results. The fighters train every day except Sunday, with high motivation to excel.
To motivate the fighters, PNP provides bonuses for students who excel at the provincial to international levels. Effendi emphasized the importance of achievements in sports alongside academics.
PNP Pencak Silat Athlete demonstrated superiority with precise techniques and strategies, effectively overcoming their opponents. Despite facing difficult situations, they remained enthusiastic and won each match with convincing scores. Support from the coach and teammates added strength, and even with one loss, their spirit and hard work remained high. The Padang State Polytechnic team stayed focused and determined to give their best in every match.
