That’s why people call this beach Watu Ulo. Legend of The Dragon Snake

The most well-known legend about Watu Ulo claims that the rock is a fragment of a dragon. In the story, Ajisaka sends the dragon to meditate, believing it will return to human form once the meditation is complete, explaining the rock’s serpent-like shape. Another version of the legend suggests that Watu Ulo was once part of a fearsome dragon named Nogo Rojo. This dragon was notorious for devouring sea creatures, making fishing difficult for local communities. The legend states that Raden Mursodo defeated Nogo Rojo by cutting it into three parts, with its head said to rest at Grajagan Beach in Banyuwangi and its tail in Pacitan.
