MTCMEDIA – BATU. The Museum Angkut stands as Indonesia’s largest and most extensive transportation museum, covering an impressive 3.8 hectares. Inside, it showcases around 500 different transportation vehicles from all over the globe. Visitors can observe the progression of vehicle designs from traditional to highly advanced machines. Historically, the focus was on figuring out how to travel between locations; today, we are more focused on finding affordable flight tickets to explore various destinations.
Interestingly, Museum Angkut features a special collection of vehicles that were once used by Indonesia’s first president, Ir. Soekarno. This collection, situated in the educational zone near the entrance, draws significant attention from visitors.
Ir. Soekarno’s Car in Museum Angkut
One notable exhibit is the Chrysler Windsor Deluxe, a light brown car used by President Soekarno during a visit to Malang. This vehicle was produced by an American manufacturer in 1952. Despite its age of over 70 years, the car is still in remarkable condition. “Its condition is about 90 percent, and it still runs well,” said Andik Fujayanto, Assistant Operations Manager at Museum Angkut. He noted that the carβs paintwork was the primary area requiring restoration. The carβs interior, including the leather seat covers, remains in excellent condition.
The Chrysler Windsor Deluxe boasts a 4,100 CC engine and runs on gasoline. To keep it in optimal condition, the museum performs regular maintenance, such as engine warm-ups and oil changes.
Ir. Soekarno’s Helicopter in Museum Angkut
Adjacent to the car is another significant exhibit: a helicopter. According to the provided information, this was Indonesia’s first presidential helicopter, received as part of a political exchange between President Soekarno and the U.S. government. At that time, President John F. Kennedy provided ten Hercules C-130 short body aircraft, one Heli Bell-47J Siwalet, two executive Bizjet Jetstars, and a VVIP Limousine.
The helicopter, named Si Walet by Bung Karno, was produced in 1958 in America and holds historical significance for the president. Official documents related to the helicopter are also on display at the museum.
To truly appreciate the rich history and unique exhibits of Museum Angkut, a visit is a must. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply curious, there’s something for everyone. Secure your tickets today and embark on a fascinating journey through time and transportation.

Khairul Umam
One of the coolest place you can visit in Batu-Malang. They provide many types of attraction include show, collections, transportation simulation and on. Fyi, this place cost you 120K Rupiah per person, and you need to add another 30K for professional camera that you bring. I come to this place on Friday, so I'm not sure if we have to pay more if its on weekend like saturday or sunday. At 16:30 everyday, they will have parade that showing their cool cars which are surprisingly well operated and maintained. My suggestion for everyone who's about to visit this place, don't spend too much time at one spot. Because this place is massive. Last note, public facilities such toilet, praying room and on are clean and well managed. Kudos to all management.
