MTCMEDIA – MALANG. Cross-Cultural Synergy #1, initiated by Sri Mulyani, the leader of the Mulyojoyo Enterprise studio in Surabaya, was a huge success. Dominated by dance performances, the event captivated and thrilled the Cak Durasim Art Building on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The event also featured music, theater, and monologues.’
Opening Event
The event opened with ethnic music from Kelana in Jakarta, marking the beginning of the performances. Prior to this, a wilujengan kamulyan (a thanking ceremony) was held for the smooth execution of the event, attended by leaders of the studios and communities set to perform. There were many hopes and prayers that the first-ever Cross-Cultural Synergy could continue in the future.
In her speech, Sri Mulyani, a lecturer at STKW Surabaya, expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped make Cross-Cultural Synergy #1 2024 possible. “We want to build a strong synergy in appreciating and loving Indonesian art and culture. In the future, we hope to build a broader professional art synergy,” said Sri Mulyani(*), who is currently pursuing her Doctoral Program in Arts at Semarang State University.
The opening was also attended by Dr. H Jarianto, M.Si, Chairman of Wilwatikta Surabaya College of Arts; Efie Widjajanti, S.Sos, M.Pd, Head of Cultural Heritage and History, East Java Culture and Tourism Office; and Ali Maβruf, S.Sos, Head of UPT Taman Budaya Cak Durasim Surabaya.
Evening Event
Several performances were held from 3 PM until Maghrib, including Sekar Jenang Pandaan dance, Suro Agung Madiun, Topeng Ragil Kuning from Polowijen Cultural Village Malang, Sekarsari Lumajang, Mahesa Krida Denendar Batu, Suryaning Raga Surabaya, Zapin Lampung, “Masikah engkau Tanah Air” from West Sulawesi, Wiranjaye Bali, Wayang Blangblemg Blegededesa Temanggung Central Java.
The event took a break at Maghrib and then continued with the presentation of appreciation certificates to the representatives of the Cross-Cultural Synergy #3 participants. The evening session opened with the Catra Melati dance from the host, Mulyojoyo Enterprice.
The protection, preservation, utilization, and development of culture
Ali Maβruf, representing the Head of East Java Culture and Tourism Office, said, “Taman Budaya Cak Durasim is an art showcase for East Java and Indonesian art in general. The implementation of Cross-Cultural Synergy is proof of the protection, preservation, utilization, and development of culture as outlined in Law No. 5 of 2017 on Cultural Advancement.”(*)
Following that were performances of Cupak Gurangtang NTB, Sparkpulsefire Surabaya, “Catatanku” by children with disabilities from Sri Mulyani Muyojoyo Enterprice Surabaya. Senior dancer Tri Broto Wibisono presented “Sesanti,” followed by Topeng Kurung Malang, Monolog Surek from West Sulawesi, Table Indramayu, and O2 Jakarta.
Efie, who previously served as Head of the Laboratory and Development of Arts, East Java Culture and Tourism Office, said, “If Cross-Cultural Synergy is held more than three times, it can be proposed to the Cultural Heritage Preservation Center XI East Java Region for funding support through Indonesiana, or even curated through KEN (Karisma Event Nusantara) by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy RI.”(*)
