MTC MEDIA – Malang. Beauty and the beast? NO, This is beauty and the art. Not only beautiful, but also talented. This woman won two awards in the caricature art competition at PORSENI XIV. She is Ferlyn Clarensia. She is a 6th-semester student in the International Business Management program at the Business Administration Department of Bali State Polytechnic.
On July 21, 2024 at the 14th PORSENI event held at Politeknik Negeri Malang (POLINEMA), Ferlyn chooses the theme “Support from Family, Community, and Friends” for her work. With this work, she becomes a champion and makes her campus proud. She wins two awards: 1st place in the women’s category and 2nd place in the General category. Ferlyn was surprised and happy about her achievement. “I really didn’t expect it, when they announced the result, I won the gold medal,” she said.
The caricature art branch at PORSENI XIV took place on the 3rd floor of the Civil Engineering building, with participants from various polytechnics in Indonesia. Ferlyn reveals that she prepares herself with intensive practice at home, which helps her to understand the time needed to draw a caricature. During the 3-hour competition, Ferlyn uses a careful strategy by dividing her time efficiently for each stage of the process. She allocates 20 minus for sketching, 20 minutes for line art, and 20 minutes for pylox, while using the remaining time for the finishing touches.
She and her work are perfectly intertwined, each reflecting the other’s beauty. Together, they embody both beauty and the art.
